Live Online: The Non-Linear Movement Method® Practice Session with Christine

  • Christine Butler Counselling Vancouver Canada (map)

Welcome!

Join me online for an hour of movement, set to evocative and inspiring music, that will invite you to simply slow down and be present to yourself and your body.

This isn’t a dance class, it isn’t about performance, or choreography. In fact, this is largely unfacilitated! You will be invited to “move as you feel”. There is no group sharing or talking, this isn’t a support or therapy group. Come as you are, online, camera on or off, in cozy clothes, messy hair, pull out your yoga mat, and take an hour out of your busy schedule to intimately reconnect with yourself, in your own space, at your own pace.

The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) is a somatic practice that allows you to explore the feelings and sensations in your body through movement. It encourages connection, trust and intimacy between mind, body and soul. A journey to self discovery. This is a place to let curiosity explore your sense of self.

The Non-Linear Movement Method® (NLMM) is a powerful somatic method developed by Michaela Boehm over the past 2 decades of instruction and practice.

The method is rooted in her early training in Kashmiri Shaivism and fused with her extensive expertise in working with trauma, emotional closures, and physical contractions in her clients and students; as well as in implementing this technique in her own practice.

This method has many deep, powerful applications:

1. Smooths out the nervous system
2. Processes and identifies emotions
3. Awakens erotic energy and sensual sensation
4. Releases trauma patterns into flow
5. Unites mind and body in intimacy with physical sensation
6. Creates high bodily responsiveness
7. Opens access to bodily wisdom

NLMM is facilitated on a mat or blanket. Participants dress similar to a Yoga or Dance Class, in comfortable, non-restrictive clothing.

*NLMM is not a substitute for therapy or medical treatment. If you have a history of trauma, mental health issues or medical conditions, please consult your physician or mental health care practitioner to determine if somatic movement modalities are appropriate for you.*

Materials needed:

  • Access to Zoom

  • Ability to hear audio (speakers, computer audio or headphones)

  • A quiet private area for practice

  • A yoga mat or something similar

  • Comfortable clothing that you can move in

NO experience necessary, and this class is available to all ages and physical abilities.

I look forward to moving with you!
